For about a week we have been working on an interesting film and music project for Michał Zygmunt – a talented guitarist from Wrocław, Poland. Michał has just published his second CD entitled “Organic”. The project is a co-production with our fellow team from Wrocław – the Fopa Film Family – and will consist of a short documentary about Michał and his music as well as of 3 live music videos.

Having a look at music video productions tradition one can notice that there are 2 main kinds of productions. We have live performance recordings on one hand and well shot and directed music videos on the other end. The second kind is usually shot to existing music whereas the live performances are usually shot in a certain manner being quite far from the directed music videos in terms of the dramatic tension and the film form.

The project we produce for Michal is quite unique as we have managed to capture the live performance emotional aspects of Michal’s music and deliver them using a simple yet sophisticated film form that is closer to a directed/scored music videos than live performance shooting conventions where the dramatic tension of the film form is organically built upon the Michal’s live performance.
