Avra Maja Sikorowska & Kroke

Maja Sikorowska is a Polish / Greek vocalist from Krakow. She performed on stage for several years with the band “Pod Budą”; and sang a duet with her father Andrzej Sikorowski.
Hailing from Krakow, KROKE was formed in 1992 by three friends and graduates of the Krakow Academy of Music and can be classified in the genre of world music.
They began by playing klezmer music, which is deeply set in Jewish tradition, whilst adding a strong influence of Balkan music. Currently, they draw inspiration from a variety of ethnic music from around the world, combining it with elements of jazz and improvisation, creating their own distinctive style.
On the first of March, these musicians released the album “AVRA” through Pomaton Emi. This is also the first solo project for Maja and her first album sung entirely in Greek. The release of the CD is also being accompanied by a joint tour. Patronage over the album is provided by Polskie Radio.
